Everything in Charis is still stable. Great! The docs are just waiting to have things heal enough for heart surgery hopefully on Monday. They are trying to keep her blood pressure down so the aorta can be safe until surgery. She's wanting to get up and go (you know Cherie Bomb!) so they are keeping her more sedated today. Sometimes she gets excited with too many different visitors and then her blood pressure goes higher. I think probably her parents/siblings are enough to go in and stay with her right now. But I think visitors to the waiting room for a little while help Cass and Chad.
Cassie stays every night, while Chad sleeps at home. Then Chad comes in the morning and gives Cassie a chance to go home, get cleaned up and sleep a little then come back.
Cass has told Lance and Tracy not to come up yet, but they are coming up next weekend anyway.
After her heart surgery it won't matter as much the need to keep her completely sedated and calm.
Charis is strong. For one thing she made it to hospital--the doctors said most people with a torn aorta don't even make it to the hospital. (Maybe Grandma Myrt is holding her finger there.) ; )
Cassie thinks she hasn't gotten her feeding tube in yet. Charis is still on the ventilator so she can't talk. She will need to be on that until after her heart surgery.
All the family has to leave Charis' room from 5 to 7 am and 5 to 7 pm. I guess maybe it is for docs to check her out and maybe clean her up.
I asked Cass what her family does for food. She says they are eating at hospital, it's good and not too expensive. We were so blessed with Lauralee because the Ronald McDonald House housed all of us and fed us for $10 a day. Many people had donated food to the House and once or twice a day groups brought in hot meals for us. It was an incredible blessing.
Chad works at Alpine Power Sports. His boss has been very good to just have him be with Charis. But he'll probably need to go back to work next week for the money. I think perhaps Cass may want some others helping to stay with Charis when he goes back to work--probably check with her.
If you want to, I think it would be good for people to do things with Charis' siblings. I think ours felt quite neglected/over-stressed with Lauralee in and us so inaccessible.
That's it for Saturday. Thanks for your reading of this. Please add comments right here below so they can read them to Charis when she's up to it. It was an great blessing to Lauralee to see how many people loved her. Or you can answer back to me and I'll post them.
Love,
Susie

Cassie, we were in your ward many years ago, and I heard about what happened from someone up in PG, and just wanted to know that you're in our family's prayers right now. I will definitely get your name on our temple's prayer roll, too. God be with your family right now.
